Strong Management

“On high-performance teams, people say they call upon their strengths more than 75% of the time.” – Marcus Buckingham, author of First Break All the Rules

How engaged are your people? Research shows that employees stay with or leave their manager, not their company. An employee’s engagement depends almost entirely on two things: whether their manager pays attention to them or not and what kind of attention they get. Ninety nine percent of employees whose managers focus on their strengths are engaged. The national average is 29 percent. Strong management – i.e., the strengths-based manager - is the simple but elusive key to spanning that huge gap.

Designed by strengths expert Rob Fletcher (author of At Your Best blog), Quixote Consulting’s Strong Management: Strengths-based Manager Training has four specific steps to igniting employee engagement:

Strong You – All learning, all insight starts with you. Learn the anatomy of a strength, discover the source of your signature strengths, and put them to work immediately in a series of experiential exercises specifically designed to help you build a high-performing, strengths-based team.

Strong Coaching – You’ll learn what strengths-based questions to ask to individually coach your people to success.  You and your team will address these questions in the next six months. Participants self-select the strengths that will best help them accomplish the project. Partners review one another’s strengths and identify how they can use these strengths to accomplish their project. Report out to the team.

Strong Teams – Examine individual strengths within the context of a team. Look at how communication affects strengths. Increase clarity on how each person works best and how they can be relied on in a project setting.

Strong Management – Learn six steps to managing strong teams. Brainstorm best practices to bring strengths material to those you manage. Look at Strengths material as it applies to teams. Focus on unique talents and fostering interdependencies within the team. Learn why most classic management advice is wrong at least half the time and learn how to get it right every time. Explore ‘The Twelve Questions to Ask Your People’. You’ll be introduced to the 12 most important questions for unlocking employee engagement. Then, you’ll learn how to apply the information you glean from your people to drive increased productivity, energy, morale. Strong managers do more with less time and resources. Learn how.

Together we look at the latest data on strengths from the fields of Positive Psychology, Emotional Intelligence, Appreciative Inquiry and Resiliency. This insight-packed workshop will show you how to leverage your strengths and your people’s strengths for powerful results for personal development, for your success as a team, and the success of your organization. Get to the heart of building and sustaining strength-based performance and discover the power of your team at your best.

“Business units that had an opportunity to do what they do best at work every day increased retention by 50%, customer loyalty by 44% and productivity by 38%”

Practical and Applicable

At Quixote, we know how important it is for any new training knowledge to be practical and applicable. That's why we put such great emphasis on immediate and realistic application. Managers leave with a plan in place for employing their strengths, coaching and building strong teams in the coming week and beyond.

Energetic and Fun

We also know that people respond best to presentations that are energetic, interactive and fun. There is always laughter in the sessions. And the unique methodologies we employ definitely help - we've used the modalities of chocolate and even wine pairing to explore team strengths. Any of our fun team building programs can be easily combined with our training programs to create that magical mix of meaningful fun.

Lasting Impact

Participants walk away from the session with practical tools that can be immediately applied to their individual work, coaching their people, managing their people and leading their team. We stretch our time together (and your training dollars) by offering (optional) pre-workshop assignments, post-event success tools, personal and group action plans, commitments to fellow team-mates and optional coaching.

We customize key components of the training to ensure that you get the right material to the right people at the right time, maximizing the return on your investment. We take into account your unique team situation and your desired outcomes.

We also recommend:

  • Individual coaching to maximize the effectiveness of your training investment
  • Fun team building events all of which are designed to explore the Strong Management in an enjoyable, interactive setting
