We're constantly negotiating in our lives whether at work or at home. Explore this skill so crucial to success in an engaging, fun, and interactive workshop. We keep the material simple, memorable and immediately applicable to real-world situations. Discover how to get a mutual “yes” by sleuthing out both sides’ preferred approaches to negotiation. Explore universal needs that all negotiators have in common and find out how to address them. By finding ways to leverage your preferred style, you will learn how to effortlessly negotiate.

Our negotiation training is a mix of engaging exercises, discussion, and useful information, tools and techniques. You’ll practice negotiation in real time and learn methods to identify other party’s negotiation style. Learn techniques to identify which underlying need is being expressed by the other party and focus on their interest and need instead of their position. Clearly identifying the common ground, you find the material you both agree on. We help you focus on what you really need and set clear goals for your negotiations. And we’ll look at how to determine best alternatives to a settlement if the negotiation does not reach your expectations.

Learn the Emotional Intelligence techniques critical to successful negotiation: how to stop fear or anger from hijacking you prior to and during a negotiation, how to identify what the other person is feeling, particularly if what they’re feeling is derailing the negotiation, and how to fine-tune your actions to move interaction in the best direction.

Learn ways to persuade that don’t rely on rank or authority. We all have ‘hidden power’ when it comes to negotiation no matter what your job title and role. Learn how to influence without manipulation by drawing on a wide range of persuasion strategies.
With interactive discussions we look at real world challenges and together look for creative solutions.

By becoming a more successful negotiator you will increase sales and resolve conflicts more quickly. Participants learn how they can get more of what they want and gain the confidence they need to prevent or resolve disputes and conflicts. Participants will walk away with new skills and an ease with the material that will allow them to negotiate in any situation with skills that will last a lifetime.

Practical and Applicable

At Quixote, we know how important it is for any new training knowledge to be practical and applicable. That’s why we put such great emphasis on immediate and realistic application. Participants leave with a plan in place for employing their new skills in the coming week and beyond.

Energetic and Fun

We also know that people respond best to presentations that are energetic, interactive and fun. There is always laughter in the session. And the unique methodologies we employ definitely help – we’ve used the modalities of chocolate and even wine pairing to explore the workshop content. Any of our fun team building programs can be easily combined with this workshop to create that magical mix of meaningful fun.

The Best of the Best

Our research team gathers the latest management and leadership research and sifts through that impressive collection of knowledge and wisdom. We then distill what we’ve found down into what is most important, memorable and applicable to you and your team. In short, we do the work so your people can benefit the most.

Negotiation Quest draws on the work of such thought leaders as William Ury, Lawrence Susskind, G. Richard Shell, Harvard’s Program on Negotiation, Daniel Goleman, and Howard Gardner. Nonviolent Communication principles help us identify universal needs and show us how to influence by requesting rather than demanding. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) provides an excellent tool for finding how we and those we are trying to influence prefer to make decisions, a tool that can be used whether your team is familiar with the MBTI or not. The field of emotional intelligence helps us detect subtle emotional cues and determine whether a group is emotionally engaged or not.

Lasting Impact

Participants walk away from the session with practical tools that can be immediately applied to their individual work situations, as well as a vision of the powerful productivity possible in a team that recognizes and leverages all team members’ strengths. We stretch our time together (and your training dollars) by including (optional) pre-workshop assignments, post-event success tools and coaching.

We customize key components of the workshop to ensure that you get the right material to the right people at the right time, maximizing the return on your investment. We take into account your unique team situation and your desired outcomes.

We also recommend:

  • Individual coaching to maximize the effectiveness of your training investment
  • Fun team building events all of which are designed to explore the Strong Teams in an enjoyable, interactive setting
