Q: What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
A: Fun, creative, implementer

Q: What fun activities make you happy?
A: Outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, canoeing, and tubing; crafty/creative projects; gardening, dressing up, dancing, and smothering my cats with affection.

Q: What is the best way to spend a rainy weekend?
A: Knitting in bed with a cup of coffee and a pile of cats

Q: If you could tour with one band, who would you choose?
A: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, for the sheer fact that it would force me to get into incredible shape! We just saw them in concert a couple of weeks ago, and I couldn’t believe the non-stop energy of Bruce and his band. They played for 3 and ½ hours and I couldn’t even keep up with them sitting on a chair in the audience. It was incredible. Plus, I have a huge crush on the Boss. Swoon!

Q: What historical time period would you like to visit? Why?
A: It may sound odd, but I’d like to visit America during the Great Depression. I think that America has been in a period of gluttony that has accelerated over the last several decades as our economy has become increasingly globalized and driven by consumerism. Modern conveniences have made our lives easier, but far more complex, particularly as we stand faced with the impacts of global warming – one of the consequences of our highly industrialized way of life. I am of the opinion that we are going to face some serious hardships ahead, and that sacrifices will need to be made. I’d like to visit America during the Great Depression to learn how people coped with such hardship, and to see how people survived in simpler, yet more difficult times.

Q: When you were young what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: A gas station attendant. I had this notion that I would wear coveralls and be a tough working girl, but underneath, I’d be feminine and girly. Plus I really loved the smell of the gas fumes (which of course I now realize are really bad for you).

Q: What are you most passionate about in life?
A: This precious planet we call home. I’m extremely passionate about environmental issues, and have a deep concern for all living things and the complex ecosystems that they are a part of.

Q: For what in your life do you feel the most grateful?
A: My wonderful life partner and all my incredible friends (including my cats). Also, the amazing place in which we live. I love Western MA!

Q: If you could script the basic plot for the dream you will have tonight, what would the story be?
A: I would be riding a unicorn through a meadow of flowers and there would be a rainbow over us. There would also be lots of cats and wild animals playing and frolicking around us. Then we would all get into a hot air balloon and fly up over the countryside and sip tea from teacups and eat yummy baked goods.

Q: What’s your favorite season and why?
A: Spring. I simply love watching new growth sprout up after the long, cold winter. Every new bud, leaf, and blossom is like a gift opening to the world. I love the transformation from the greys and brown to various shades of greens, yellows, white, and pink. And I love getting back into the garden! It is such a magical experience to plant things and watch them grow!
