The next 500 posts? More enjoyment!
Thank you all for your heartfelt congratulations on hitting the 500-post milestone. Your words and the feeling behind them touched me. Mike Brown said, “I’m looking forward to the next 500”. I am too!
And that made me think – what would I like from the next 500? My mind scanned different strategic possibilities – more focus on a specific book area, etc.
But fortunately I did this examination on vacation. My heart said something very simple – just follow enjoyment. That brought an immediate smile to my face and I knew then (and know now) that I had reached home base for me with writing for the blog. Enjoyment – what a perfect fuel for persistence!
The thing about enjoyment and the heart is that it’s unpredictable. My mind immediately tries to categorize what’s enjoyable and what isn’t, get worried that I’m not enjoying them all, or that following enjoyment is a dangerous path to nowhere.
Silly mind! My pursuit of life delight has relentlessly carried me through scary waters to places of meaning and fulfillment. This focus on enjoyment will be no different. And there’s a part of me that enjoys writing descriptions for programs – something for example that is helpful for me to post on the blog for people to find while search. Enjoyment’s a funny thing and provides a great exercise in watching what that looks like in its changing forms.
Feel free to remind me if you ever hear me not enjoying the writing. And to remind me when you really notice me enjoying it. And thank you for letting me know when you’re touched and enjoying what I write from the heart. Here’s to you and me and the next 500, may we all brim with enjoyment!
