Just 15 minutes a day = 3 more years alive: exercise and passion
A study of over 400,000 people found something amazing: If you moderately exercise just 15 minutes a day you gain 3 more years of life expectancy. Having a daily ritual like this leverages the power of persistence. Each day I’ll look at the how combining one of the other paths to being at your best with persistence will help you take that 15 minutes.
Passion
Track how you love to exercise and how you don’t. Exercise how you want to, not how you’re told to. If you don’t love running, it’s running’s loss you don’t do it, not yours. No one can tell you what you care most about it. And it’s no-one’s business if what you love changes over time. I spent years playing basketball. Now, not so much. That passion may return or it may not. The important factor is to remember who’s in charge – you. There are millions of sports and ways to move your body. Let your innate interest guide you to the activity that you can get lost in, one that gets your heart rate and breath rate up.
